Our Gallery Wall

Our Gallery Wall

I’m jumping for joy: Our gallery wall is finally finished!

I’m so happy with the way this project turned out. Since our wedding day I knew I wanted to make a gallery wall in our home. Our wedding day was such a special time in our lives and I wanted to commemorate the day in a unique way. We chose to have our gallery wall feature black & white photos with gold frames for a classic elegant feel.

For the first year of our marriage we were living in a condo and the limited wall space didn’t lend itself well to a gallery wall.  We bought the 11×14 frames from Target almost six months ago and they sat in our closet collecting dust.  At that same Walgreens was running a super sale on their prints so I went ahead and purchased all the photos. Fast forward to now – we have since moved into the cutest little house and we finally decided to dust off the frames and hang up the gallery wall.

Let me start by saying – the English Premier League just started and my husband is an avid soccer(futbol) fan. He graciously agreed to lend me some of his time in between soccer games to get the project done.

We started out by using a tape measure and a laser leveler. The wall we had to work with was 6 1/2 feet and we knew 0ur kitchen table is a 5ft circular table. From there I knew I wanted to space out the frames to be in total 5ft in width and have a spacing of 2 1/2 inches in between each photo.

The process of spacing our lines took the longest by far. I’d say we spent a good hour devoted to measuring and re-measuring our lines. We kept going back and forth making sure everything was accurate before we put any holes in the walls. We then just started to hammer away. We decided to use three nails per frame because we thought one or two were not sturdy enough to keep the photos from falling. We were finally on the downhill slope of the project at this point.

We hung up the photos and made sure all the frames were straight and then quickly got to work on decorating our new area. We absolutely love the way it turned out. It makes eating meals at our kitchen table that much more enjoyable.

Other details about our kitchen. The table is a $20 facebook market place table that my husband and I refinished. Blog to come on that process soon! The place mats are from a local shop Consider the Cook and our center piece is from the Magnolia Market. Salt & pepper shakers are from Amazon. Marble napkin holder and coasters are from William Sonoma. The flower arrangement is a pack of three blue hydrangeas I bought from Publix and used a jar I had under the sink.

We had so much fun on this project and it was definitely worth the six month wait to finally find the right spot for our wedding day photos. We will be adding a special little one in January. My goal is that no matter where we live, we will have a gallery wall in our home to commemorate special moments in our lives. I can’t wait to add our baby’s photos to the wall 🙂

All the best,

Em
