Our Southern Inspired Wedding Day

Our Southern Inspired Wedding Day

My husband and I just celebrated our second wedding anniversary. I wanted to take a walk down memory lane and share some photos with you all. My husband and I were married on May 28, 2018 in our hometown of Vero Beach, FL. We originally thought about planning a destination wedding in Italy (where we got engaged), but we are both born and raised in Vero Beach, FL and decided on having a wedding in our hometown to share the special day with all of our loved ones. We were married at First Baptist Church and our reception was held at Bellewood Plantation. I grew up Baptist and my husband grew up Catholic. We wanted to have both denominations represented, so we had a Catholic deacon participate in our wedding ceremony.  The theme for our wedding was southern inspired with cream, greenery and touches of blue and pink.

The day started off with the wedding party getting ready at Bellewood Plantation. A beautiful southern home on 10 acres of land just a little north of Vero Beach. The girls were getting ready upstairs while the guys were downstairs. Todd and I decided not to do a first look, so we enlisted the help of our bridesmaids and groomsmen to make sure we didn’t bump into each other on that special day.

For wedding gifts Todd and I gifted each other a bible. Our faith in God is a very important part of our lives. I’m so thankful and blessed that we were both raised in loving Christian homes and we want to teach our son about God and Jesus (and hopefully future children.) I gifted my parents hanker-chiefs that were embroidered with a special saying for each of them. I worked with an Etsy artist who helped me make the gifts extra sweet.

Did I mention it rained on our wedding day?! LOL We just so happened to get married on a the same weekend as a fluke tropical storm in May (TS Alberto). Usually unheard of that time of the year. It was predicted to rain most of the day, so we made the best of it and ordered clear umbrellas for our wedding party and they turned out perfect. It’s good luck when it rains on your wedding day!

I have to give a shoutout to both sides of the family. Our parents and siblings were amazing in helping us plan our special day and we are so thankful to them for all they did to make our dreams come true 🙂

Our flowers were done by Lara’s Theme. A local florist in Vero Beach. I loved the way they turned out. Like I mentioned before our theme was cream, greenery and touches of pink and blue. I knew I wanted olive branches to give a little nod to where we got engaged and the bridesmaids bouquets were a favorite element because of the silk ribbon addition.

I really loved our invitation suite. Our save the date and wedding invitations were done by graphic designer Andi Mejia and our program by an Etsy artist. Our envelope calligraphy was done by our super sweet and talented friend Ally of Swirls and Sunshine Calligraphy. We ordered the wax seal stamp off of Amazon and I just love the way everything turned out.

My mom’s best friend Bonnie Carmine of Bon Bon’s Sweet Confections made the most beautiful wedding cake as a gift to us. We also had Bonnie make us a turkey groom’s cake. She is so incredible talented. Both cakes were out of this world beautiful and so yummy!!

Now on to the party!! Like I stated earlier we were married at First Baptist Church of Vero and our reception was held at Bellewood Plantation. It was overcast and rainy that day, but that didn’t stop us from having an amazing party time at our reception. We hired a fun brass band out of Orlando – Bay Kings Band and they brought the house down! We had the best time dancing the night away with our family and friends!!

We ended our reception with a sparkler sendoff and into a vintage Rolls Royce. Our wedding day surpassed my dreams and it was the most perfect day filled with so much joy and love!

I hope our wedding story gives you inspiration as you plan your big day!

All the Best,
